For example, lets assume you're playing in a $1000 guaranteed with a buy in of $10. If the tournament has $1000 even if two players registered the prize pool will still be $1000. If on the other hand 2000 players register to play, then the guaranteed prize pool will be exceeded and will thus rise above guaranteed amount of $1000.
